What are your business hours?
Crossroads for Women's client services and administrative offices are open from 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday. Evening outpatient hours are available by appointment. Please note that if the Portland Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, then the Crossroads for Women client services and administrative offices are also closed.

What services does Crossroads for Women offer?
Crossroads for Women offers short-term and long-term residential programs, an intensive outpatient program, as well as individual and group outpatient counseling for adult women and affected others. Other services include children and mothers residential programs, DEEP services and an educational series for friends and family members.

Who is eligible for services at Crossroads for Women?
Women who are 18 years of age and older and are chemically dependent are eligible for services at Crossroads for Women. Children who accompany their mother in treatment must be 10 years of age or under.

How do I make an appointment at Crossroads for Women?
To receive services at Crossroads for Women, please call 207.773.9931 to participate in a brief phone screening and schedule a full level of care assessment. Walk-in intake times are also available.

Why are services only for women?
Research clearly indicates that treatment programs which address women’s specific issues are more effective for women than traditional co-ed treatment programs, particularly in the early stages of recovery. You can read more about women and substance abuse in Crossroads for Women's blog.

What is your treatment philosophy?
Crossroads for Women’s philosophy is that substance abuse treatment for women must build upon and respect women’s unique needs to focus on self-determination, choices, positive relationships and connectedness. All services must be provided in a secure, nonjudgmental environment.

How long will my treatment last?
It depends on your situation. You will participate in an evaluation and treatment planning process specifically geared to your individual needs and goals.

How do I pay for treatment at Crossroads?
Crossroads for Women accepts some insurance payments, including MaineCare, as well as self-payment. Fee schedules are presented at the applicant's intake appointment.

Is Crossroads Driver Education and Evaluation Programs (DEEP) certified?
Yes, Crossroads is DEEP certified to provide evaluation and treatment to women 18 years of age and older.

Who is eligible for transitional housing at Cumberland Commons?
Any woman who completes a substance abuse treatment program may apply for a rental apartment at Cumberland Commons in Windham, ME. Preference will be given to women who demonstrate a pattern of participation in a strong recovery program and a desire to remain sober and drug free.

Does Crossroads For Women provide access to medical or psychiatric services?
All services offered by Crossroads for Women provide counseling staff with access to medical and psychiatric consultation from our medical director and our consulting psychiatrist who is fully accredited through the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and medication management are available to clients, as well as screening and referral to appropriate medical services for routine and chronic medical conditions.
